What You'll Do:

 

Summary

 

Responsible for ensuring supply continuity at the plants on a day to day basis for assigned commodities. Supports commodity strategy development and responsible for implementing those strategies and the plant/supplier level.

 

Ensure supply continuity for assigned plants and commodities

  • Take proactive leadership role in identifying and resolving material availability, quality problems and service issues and provide second source solutions when necessary
  • Support materials management function in each manufacturing location. Coach and provide feedback to Plant Materials Managers, especially new Material Managers, on an as needed basis


Support commodity managers in developing and executing commodity strategies (for assigned commodities)

  • Support relevant Commodity Director in developing commodity strategies by bringing relevant supplier performance and plant needs/requirements insights based in supply continuity responsibilities
  • Enforce adherence to strategic sourcing commodity and supplier strategies through ownership of strategy implementation at the plant level -- ensuring compliance and issue resolution as strategies are rolled-out/modified
  • Actively participate in sourcing and supplier reviews (e.g., QBRs, scorecard reviews) to inform commodity/supplier strategies
  • Own price list updates and supplier item setup for all plants across the network -- ensuring current prices are up to date for plant buyers to place POs against
  • Quote, analyze, and negotiate component tooling and piece price for assigned commodities.
  • Own on-going contract administration and management once commodity and supplier strategies are put in place
  • Plan/develop and provide corporate policies, guidelines, and procedures that ensure plant Purchasing is in conformance/compliance

How You'll Do It:

 

Support Brand/Local Sourcing team with NPI/NPD efforts

  • Ensure suppliers have the appropriate stocking levels available by SKU and communicate ramp-up/ramp down timing, support supplier readiness efforts; support new supplier onboarding efforts
  • Notify plants of changeover dates/timing, supply plants with new contract/pricing information, help resolve plant issues during launches


 

Identify improvement opportunities at the plant level for assigned commodities

  • Identify and execute supplier to plant improvement opportunities such as cost reductions and improvements in quality, lead times, safety, and/or sustainability by partnering with material managers
  • Actively introduce new local suppliers to support sourcing strategies (for assigned commodities)
  • Support plant kaizen events to identify improvement opportunities

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor degree required (supply chain, engineering, or MBA a plus)
  • 5+ years of relevant sourcing or relevant plant supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships a plus
  • Experience in lean manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience in production supervision, quality, or other non-materials function is also a plus
  • Knowledge of plant products, manufacturing processes and departmental relationships
  • APICS or ISM certification an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office; expertise in excel and powerpoint
  • ERP experience
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% (primarily US and Canada)
