What You'll Do:

 

Responsible for identifying new fiber/yarn, polymer, and chemistries for integration into new mattress products. This position works seamlessly across Innovation Team to submit component test requests to lab for full component analysis and works with the Human Factors lab to complete full product analysis. This role anticipates needs across the SSB organization for timely completion of prototype builds made with innovative components and new aesthetic constructions. The responsibility will include managing material and prototype procurement from current and prospective supply partners. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining project timelines and development of "new/novel" developments for innovation roadmap and will closely interact and effectively communicate with various cross-functional teams / project managers and supply partners.

•    Identification and development of new fibers, polymers, chemistries and fabric constructions for mattress development
•    Work closely with Aesthetic Design Team, Fabric Suppliers, and SSB Testing team to develop new materials and constructions with competitive advantages
•    Coordinate materials for prototype development, and management of new raw material components and inventories
•    Facilitate internal processes for vetting material selections to include testing, piloting, FMEA analysis, and cost analysis
•    Establish and maintain communication process with PMO, Marketing, Sourcing, and NPD to ensure consistent and timely updates of various projects
•    Develop and maintain reporting archive of new raw materials and technologies, including costs, test results, and material specifications
•    Data analysis of test results with recommendations provided
•    Work closely with SSB Marketing BRAND teams and Consumer Insights Teams to understand consumer needs and benefits for targeted innovation development

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks with cross-functional teams
  • Technical knowledge of textile/performance fabric construction and production methods strongly preferred
  • Team-oriented, collaborative work approach; initiative, flexibility, and able to work in a team setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Motivated self-starter that proactively seeks out ways to advance projects
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Suite -- Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • Preferred Degree: Textile Engineering, Material Science Engineering or Chemistry

The hiring salary range for this position applies to where legally required, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
