Overview

 

The Vice President of Enterprise Applications is an innovative professional who possesses the technical, business and  leadership skills to spearhead application development management and software delivery for the enterprise.  The VP of Enterprise Applications leads a high-performing team of 36 associates responsible for application services from inception through design, implementation, maintenance and retiral, embodying a culture of continuous improvement to provide business value by delivering high-quality technology solutions in lockstep with business partners.  

 

The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Lead a team managing all aspects of application development and delivery across multiple functions, business units and business lines to provide high-quality application solutions across the enterprise.

 

  • Foster a strong customer service mind-set throughout the application development team, while championing thought-leadership and partnership with the business.

 

  • Identify emerging technology trends, especially in the area of SaaS and cloud computing, and ensure the company is leveraging them when appropriate to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and drive business value.

 

  • Accountable for managing the budget for the Application cost center.

 

  • Partner with IT PMO and business teams to prioritize initiatives.

 

  • Work with Internal and external audit to create and maintain ITGC controls for all technical systems within the Application environment. 

 

  • Develop, implement and monitor software development policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance, including DR planning and testing of critical applications.

 

  • Develop and manage metrics that demonstrate technology value to the enterprise.

 

  • Recruit, develop and retain high caliber software development talent, especially for key leadership positions, and develop a succession plan.

 

  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to procure resources and technology solutions to meet the company’s strategic objectives for all technology providers within the Application environment.

 

Functional Competencies

 

  • Develop and manage functional area’s budget and forecast, allocating resources effectively to maximize return on investment and align with the department’s financial goals.
  • Understanding of deploying enterprise solutions, both on-prem and cloud-based.
  • General knowledge of discrete manufacturing processes and automation technology.
  • Ability to communicate technical or complex subject matter in business terms at all levels of the enterprise.
  • Must be able to articulate the value technology brings to the enterprise.
  • Understanding of DevOps methodologies and how to integrate specific concepts across cross-functional teams.
  • Good understanding of Cloud based applications capabilities.

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Expertise with managing application development at scale, employing SDLC methodologies including Agile,  Scrum and agile/waterfall hybrid models
  • Deep knowledge of system architecture, technical design, and system and software development technology.
  • Has knowledge of emerging trends and developments in PaaS, SaaS, iOS/Android app API, cloud, AI, machine learning and other digital technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of integrating various platforms using an enterprise integration platform
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of ecommerce, including EDI, online, omni-channel, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the Shopify environment
  • Experience with supply chain processes
  • General knowledge of transportation management systems
  • Experience developing and supporting mission critical applications optimized to run in the cloud or virtualized environments
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, primarily Service Cloud and Sales Cloud
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow or related ITSM platforms
  • General understanding of shop-floor machinery communications and PLC integrations
  • Experience with migrating on-prem application to a cloud environment.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and make informed decisions regarding the acquisition of technology resources and services.

  • Ability to lead a large remote team that includes recruitment, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Ability to manage and mentor team members, ensuring that they have the necessary skills, resources, and support to be successful in their roles; and continuously upskill team members to keep them current.

  • Foster a collaborative environment across all technology and business teams. 

  • Provide candid feedback and high impact coaching that enables (and motivates) team to achieve departmental as well as enterprise goals.

  • Ability to create, adopt and enforce company policies.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate a strategic vision for technology at the executive level.

  • Must have a strategic thought process and the ability to align technology goals with enterprise goals

 

Experience/Education

 

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher, required.
  • 10-15 years of Senior Leadership experience, with direct oversight of technology teams with primary focus in software development, deployment and maintenance
  • Demonstrated management experience of a group consisting of 20+ people including managers, team leaders, and individual contributors spread out across multiple locations.
  • Minimum of 10 years up-through-the-ranks experience having successfully led development and delivery of multiple complex business technology solutions into production that have achieved or surpassed business goals.

Job Factors/Work Environments

 

  • Hybrid remote work environment, Atlanta, GA based (No relocation)
  • Up to 25% travel, some international (Canada)
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
