Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Follows all safety policies and procedures defined by the company safety program and OSHA regulations to eliminate work related injuries.
Completes assignments in an orderly and expeditious manner by taking necessary safety precautions as well as understanding and adherence to established company/departmental policies.
Practices Lean principles and participates in Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of plant production and/or support equipment, and related processes.
Performs highly complex equipment and system maintenance or modification tasks independently and in work teams.
Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield.
Identifies complex equipment/system malfunctions and implements effective corrective and preventive actions through a thorough application of advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
Provides technical analysis of work processes, equipment design, operation, and functionality to identify opportunities for increased productivity, improved quality, or cost savings. Works with others to develop alternative solutions.
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical).
Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventative and unscheduled maintenance).
Troubleshoots and diagnoses difficult, infrequent problems with equipment.
Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures
Continuously learns and applies skills and procedures while performing progressively more difficult, hazardous and technical duties related to the maintenance, modification and installation of the plant equipment and systems.
Leads in AM/PM training development and implementation for standards, procedures, equipment and system operation, detailed analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting techniques. Directly responsible for training Operators and Maintenance Technicians. Identifies and acts on opportunities to mentor and train others.
Continuously works to improve personal technical and leadership skills.
Develops and/or works from plans and schedules, drawings, and other written specifications, or oral instructions. Selects materials, equipment, and tools to be used.
Accepts and requests increasing levels of responsibility.
Documents maintenance work performed and maintains related records and files, including MSDS.
Requisitions new or replacement parts, tools or equipment for the approval of the Plant Manager.
In partnership with Engineering, leads the planning and installation or rearrangement of machinery or equipment.
Manages individual and team jobs and/or projects to meet schedules while ensuring safety precautions and established company/departmental policies are followed.
Develops and implements improvements to existing PM standards and equipment processes or initiates new standards or methods.
Demonstrates a high degree of creativity and innovation related to resolving equipment problems, continuous improvements, or responding to customer requests.
Provides team leadership on projects.

Experience/Education
HS diploma or GED required; Associates degree or technical certifications preferred
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must be at least 18 years or older
5+ years relevant training in two or more maintenance trades, specifically mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, PLC controls, robotics and pneumatics
Previous experience training and/or leading others required
Knowledge of spreadsheet or database software preferred
Experience working for a bedding manufacturer and/or knowledge of sewing equipment a plus
Job Factors/Work Environments
Must stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day or longer in overtime situations as required. Also must be able to lift heavy product or raw materials up to 120 pounds multiple times per hour during an 8-hour shift or longer in overtime situations to meet customer demand. Heavy loads must be team-lifted. A workplace that maintains integrity of make-to-order system is required.
Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement. Work environment includes a clean and safe work area and exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials, and limited chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards and is supplied by the company.
