This role is 100% remote and can be located anywhere in the continental US 

What You’ll Do

From inception to production our engineers are invested in the solutions that we build. With DTC Engineering you’ll be working in an environment consisting primarily of Ruby on Rails, Shopify, JavaScript, RSpec, and Postgres deployed to Heroku with growing use of AWS & Azure. We believe strongly in continuous deployment and integration and use Buildkite and Cypress to do so.

In our tech stack, you’ll be working on an application platform responsible for most post-purchase activities for our business including order routing, tracking, and servicing. The application platform you’ll help guide touches several aspects of our DTC business including:

  • eCommerce Storefront
  • Supply Chain
  • Logistics
  • Customer Experience
  • Owned Retail
  • Partnership Retail

How You'll Do It

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll help us to ensure that our application is robust and resilient. We are regularly evaluating improvements to our architecture and our stack. You’ll have a seat at the table as we plan the future of our DTC approach as we continue to grow our business all while:

  • Design, implement and manage infrastructure as code for our Heroku, AWS and Azure environments, using Terraform, Ansible, and Azure Resource Manager.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Buildkite, GitHub Actions and other tools to automate code deployment processes.
  • Implement monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Sentry, Mezmo, Skylight, Honeycomb, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch and other technologies to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Work closely with software development teams to identify and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployments, and performance.
  • Plan and execute the migration of Ruby on Rails backend applications to AWS/Azure microservices while maintaining high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Continuously improve the DevOps process, automate manual tasks, and identify opportunities to optimize performance and reduce costs.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

 

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps or related roles in a tech stack similar to what is described above.
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Ansible or equivalent.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, Buildkite, GitHub Actions or equivalent.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Sentry, Mezmo, Skylight, Honeycomb, or equivalent.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure and Heroku services, and other serverless architectures.
  • Experience with Docker containerization and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or equivalent.
  • Experience running microservices/distributed architectures.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solution Architect, Azure Administrator Certified) or equivalent are plus
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) or equivalent are plus
  • Experience with RedHat Ansible
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, Shopify, RSpec, Postgres, and Redis
  • Background in the e-commerce and/or supply chain domain.
  • Experience with Event Driven architectures.
  • An interest in the GraphQL ecosystem.
