​​SSB’s in-house creative team specializes in strategy, design and execution of branded programs and content that connects our brands with consumers across all touchpoints.

 

We’re in search of a Retail Experience Designer to join our growing in-house creative team. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary designer with an eye for visual details and a passion for solving customer problems. The Retail Experience Designer develops creative across multiple platforms supporting our retail partners and Direct to Consumer business. They will help drive the development of our brands by ensuring that creative briefs are fully explored with new ideas and delivered to the highest standards.

 

This role reports to the Associate Creative Director - Packaging, Partnerships & Retail, and partners closely with copywriters, designers, project managers and partners across brand marketing, brand strategy and new product development.

What You'll Do:

 

  • Work on multiple retail experience projects simultaneously. From kickoff to final delivery, proactively seek clarity and solve challenges when faced with design challenges.
  • Create and curate innovative retail experiences, including: signage, mattress headboards and foot protectors, interactive demos and displays, packaging, fixtures, furniture, and decor.
  • Meet with internal partners to review creative briefs to understand direction and project scope.
  • Produce renderings of retail experiences, fixtures, and packaging that help partners and stakeholders to envision the concept. 3D rendering capabilities preferred.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with copywriters, project managers, creative directors, brand partners, and external partners and agencies.
  • Use data and research to inform design decisions that generate increasingly effective creative.
  • Participate in ideation sessions, store visits, and organize info and inspiration into mood boards and presentations.
  • Help the team source vendors, materials, furniture, and decor in support of creative projects.
  • Seek innovative ways to increase efficiency, reduce cost, reduce waste, and increase our environmental sustainability.
  • Demonstrate the capability to lead large projects such as trade shows, launches of national product lines, and complex interactive experiences.
  • Present work regularly to stakeholders and external partners.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of brand positioning and the role design plays in championing brand development.
  • Stay up-to-date on current design trends and tools.

What You'll Bring:

 

  • 3+ years of experience designing for retail, packaging, or related print applications.
  • Ability to clearly articulate design decisions & problems with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, and willingness to take on new challenges and risks.
  • Comfortable in a growing, fast-paced, self-starter environment.
  • Track record of being an independent, collaborative partner who can handle multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Strong typography, visual, graphic and experiential design sensibilities.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and prioritization skills; can be highly productive with limited direction and sometimes ambiguous challenges.
  • Ability to work quickly in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Ability to create 3D renders is preferred.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional design and storytelling skills across multiple media channels: print, digital, packaging, experiential, etc.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
