What You’ll Do:

 

The Mattress Closer is responsible for expertly closing mattresses using a tape-edge sewing machine, ensuring all products meet quality and safety standards. This role plays a critical part in the final stage of mattress assembly and requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a tape-edge sewing machine to close mattresses, including Hot Melt Bond units, foam-encased pocketed coil units, and open coil units with various upholstery layers.
  • Feed materials into the machine and guide the sewing operation around the mattress perimeter.
  • Re-thread the sewing machine as needed and replace binding tape or needles.
  • Inspect and correct any taping defects to meet quality standards.
  • Move finished mattresses onto the takeaway conveyor system.
  • Perform basic maintenance on sewing equipment, including lubrication and minor adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping floors and following all safety procedures.
  • Assist in other areas of mattress building as assigned.

How You’ll Do It:

 

  • Previous experince required
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Basic English reading and writing skills.
  • Prior experience in sewing or working with sewing machinery preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment is a plus.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, safety protocols, and quality guidelines.
  • Problem-solving skills for minor machine issues and quality checks.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to lift 100lbs as needed.

  • Standing and walking for 7–10 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds (team lifting required for heavy items)
  • Fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and quality
  • Clean, well-maintained facility, but may include high noise levels, heat, or material exposure
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is provided and required

Job Factors/Work Environments

A clean and safe work area and exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials and limited chemical

Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards.

Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement.
